By accessing and using SciZone ("the Service"), you accept and agree to be bound by the terms and provision of this agreement. If you do not agree to abide by the above, please do not use this service.
SciZone is an enthusiast project operated without a formal legal entity. These terms apply to all users of the Service, including visitors, browsers, and anyone who accesses or uses the Service.
2. Description of Service
SciZone provides a free media optimization tool that allows users to convert images to WebP format. The Service offers:
- Local/offline image processing (files remain on your device)
- Optional cloud integration with Google Drive and Dropbox
- Batch conversion capabilities
- Automatic quality optimization
The Service is currently provided free of charge with no advertisements. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any aspect of the Service at any time.
3. User Responsibilities
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You agree not to:
- Use the Service to process or distribute illegal, harmful, or offensive content
- Violate any applicable laws or regulations
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any portion of the Service
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers connected to the Service
- Use the Service in any manner that could damage, disable, or impair the Service
4. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its original content, features, and functionality, is owned by SciZone and is protected by international copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property laws.
You retain all rights to the files you upload and process through the Service. SciZone does not claim ownership of your content.
5. Limitation of Liability
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.
SciZone, as an enthusiast project, does not guarantee that:
- The Service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free
- Any defects or errors will be corrected
- The Service is free of viruses or other harmful components
In no event shall SciZone be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including without limitation, loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, resulting from your use of the Service.
6. Third-Party Services
The Service may integrate with third-party services, including but not limited to Google Drive and Dropbox. Your use of these third-party services is subject to their respective terms of service and privacy policies. SciZone is not responsible for the practices of these third-party services.
When you use cloud integration features, you authorize SciZone to access your files through these third-party APIs solely for the purpose of providing the conversion service. OAuth tokens are stored temporarily in your browser's session storage and are not transmitted to SciZone servers.
7. Modifications to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Use at any time. We will notify users of any material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Service after such modifications constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
8. Termination
We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your access to the Service immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason whatsoever, including without limitation if you breach the Terms.
9. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the European Union, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. If you are located outside the EU, these Terms still apply, but local laws may also govern certain aspects of your use.
